Tredegar Town Band
Event Date: 28/03/2026
Show Information
Join us for a very special afternoon of music as we celebrate the life and legacy of one of brass banding’s true greats, Mr Brian Buckley.
This commemorative concert is held in Brian’s honour and will feature a selection of his favourite pieces from across the years—music that shaped his remarkable career and inspired generations of players and listeners alike. The programme reflects not only his exceptional musicianship, but also his deep and lifelong love for the brass band tradition.
This concert also remembers Richard Buckley, Brian’s son, who sadly passed away last year. Richard shared his father’s passion for music and banding, and his memory is very much part of this occasion. Together, we honour both father and son, and the lasting musical legacy they leave behind.
The concert will be performed by the Tredegar Town Band, with whom Brian was proudly associated as Principal Cornetist for many years. Few musicians leave such a lasting mark on a band, and this performance will be both a tribute and a heartfelt thank-you to a man whose influence, warmth, and musical excellence will never be forgotten.
An afternoon of memorable music, shared stories, and reflection — a fitting tribute to two much-loved figures, whose impact on banding and on those around them will endure.
