About Dylan Thomas Theatre
Welcome to The Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea
The Dylan Thomas Theatre is Swansea’s only waterside theatre venue and has been home to the award-winning Swansea Little Theatre since 1979. Situated in the heart of the Maritime Cultural Quarter in the SA1 area, the theatre thrives as a community hub, attracting over 15,000 visitors annually.
Renowned for its vibrant and diverse performances, the theatre has hosted local dance groups, music festivals, professional touring companies, cabaret acts, and stand-up comedians. Among its prestigious guests are Eddie Izzard, Russell Kane, and the BBC.
Our recent advancements, including a substantial upgrade to theatrical lighting and sound with support from the Cory Environmental Trust, enable us to better serve our community. We proudly offer one of the best lighting setups in the country, featuring a full LED rig and cutting-edge control desks.
Accessibility & Facilities
Our venue is designed to accommodate all guests, ensuring full accessibility with ramps, lowered bar and box office, disabled toilets, and baby changing facilities. The stage is equipped with ramps, and we provide disabled toilets and showers backstage.
The main Bar/Foyer area is perfect for intimate performances, cabaret, and various events such as private parties, book launches, and presentations.
Commitment to Sustainability
We take our environmental responsibilities seriously and are committed to continuous improvement while minimizing our environmental impact.
Celebrating Dylan Thomas
Discover unique panels that narrate the story of Wales’ most famous poet, Dylan Thomas, highlighting his time as an actor with Swansea Little Theatre in the 1930s. These panels, inspired by the book Dylan the Actor by Heather Holt, along with Swansea’s Dylan, provide insight into the places and people that influenced his early works.
Community & Events
Beyond our own annual programme, the theatre increasingly welcomes local dance and theatre groups, community organizations, and national touring productions. We proudly host Theatr na n’Og for three months each year, giving over 6,000 school children the chance to experience interactive theatre.
